Teaching to Train
Hello friends!
My name is Samantha Stevens, and I am a barrel horse trainer. When I am not in school or at the barn, I enjoy many fun activities such as hunting, camping, swimming, and basically any thing out doors. My family is my number one priority and school is one of my favorite things.
Throughout my high school years, I was a member of the Utah High School Rodeo Association. The events I participated in were: goat tying, pole bending, barrel racing, and an occasional cutting. After high school, I took on breakaway roping.
Now that I am in college, I do not have the time or funds it takes to rodeo full time. A way I keep myself involved in the rodeo life style is by training horses. Barrel horses are my specialty. As I train horses, I always try to teach those around me all that I know about training, in return I try to learn from them too.
I am a firm believer that everyone knows something about horses and training that I have yet to learn. Take a look around this site to see a project I worked on with my father ad brother in the summer of 2016. During this project I taught them how to train our horse Doc for barrels.
